Went back in time to the oldest continually operat Went back in time to the oldest continually operating Chinese business in N. America, Loy Sing BBQ meats, in Victoria’s Chinatown, the 2nd oldest Chinatown in the world (San Francisco is the oldest). Loy Sing’s BBQ pork is timeless. Also visited Tam Kung Temple, Canada’s oldest Chinese temple, and sampled some Korean Jjolmyeon (쫄면) before heading to the BC Royal Museum to see a fascinating exhibit on Indigenous languages and art, and east Indian fabric. Managed to squeeze in a boat tour of the Victoria harbor, a local gin martini, and BC oysters before dinner at Zambri’s. Our happily retired 80-yr old boat captain, born and raised in the upper harbor Gorge, gave us quite the history lesson.

But we snuck in a bike ride up the coast, supped award-winning chowder at Floating House, paused in Ladysmith to see where Resident Alien was filmed (and buy cinnamon cake donuts), enjoyed dinner at 10 Acres, and watched the Inner Harbor sun set.

Plus harbor seals, California sea lions, lots of bald eagles, sea stars, sea cucumbers, anemones and other intertidal life. Just amazing. Lingcod and fiddleheads harvested today were so good and simple, grilled with an herb rub, and sauteed with shiitakes, lemon zest, butter and parsley. Creamy risotto on the side. I ♥️ PNW
